Anti Aging Skin Care Products Are They For You
As we age, not only are we exposed to more cumulative sunlight, which is responsible for 90% of all skin changes, but there is a breakdown of DNA, collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid and other supporting molecules in the dermis. Into our fifties, oil glands will secrete less frequently, and we’ll experience uncomfortable skin tightening, in addition to noticing lines and wrinkles. When shopping for anti aging skin products, don’t overlook the importance of a daily moisturizer. In fact, moisturizers can help restore the skin’s elasticity, easing wrinkles and creating softer, smoother skin.
You may have also noticed a wrinkle reducer cream among the skin care products. These are generally comprised of cell damage reversing antioxidants like vitamin A (retinoids), B, C or E that are intended to neutralize free radicals and stimulate your body’s natural collagen production. As you know, collagen injections are a popular and relatively inexpensive way of bolstering your skin’s rejuvenation process. You can try Neutrogena’s Healthy Skin Anti Wrinkle Cream, Retinol or L’Oreal’s Line Eraser. Alpha Hydroxy Acids are a less potent first line defense against skin aging and Peptide products like StriVectin, Olay’s Regenerist Serum or Este Lauder’s Perfectionist are cosmeceuticals that also stimulate natural collagen production.
As we get older our cumulative exposure to the sun’s UV rays is the cause of over 90% of the changes in our skin health. The aging process causes reduced collagen production resulting in the skin relaxing and becoming less taught and eventually starting to sag. We also lose hyaluronic acid a substance found in the connective tissue of the body that cushions and lubricates and also provides volume and fullness to your skin.
When we get into our fifties the oil glands start to secrete less often, and that is when you start to notice the uncomfortable feeling of tightening skin, and you’ll start to notice the beginning’s of fine lines. Keep in mind the importance of a good daily moisturizer While researching skin rejuvenation products, using a high quality moisturizer will help in creating softer skin by reducing wrinkles and giving you a more youthful appearance.
Ingredients like petrolatum, glycerin, hyaluronic acid and cyclomethicone encourage your skin’s water retention. Many dermatologists also recommend Vaseline Petroleum Jelly Cream, avoiding hot or frequent showers and substituting bar soap with a moisturizing body wash.
Many people believe they can effectively restore younger looking skin on their face, but the real signifier of age is the neck area. Anti aging skin care products often ignore the sagging, transparency and wrinkling of the neck, but one product focuses exclusively on this troublesome area. The ELASTIderm Decolletage System is two-fold, combining a skin lightening formula containing 4% hydroquinone (to restore the skin’s natural pigmentation) with a bi-mineral, malonic acid containing anti wrinkle cream, to replenish elasticity and build collagen.
The bad news about anti aging skin care products is that ” cosmeceuticals” are not a strictly regulated sector of the medical industry. While on one hand, all products must be FDA-approved before making it to the shelves; their efficiency doesn’t need to be repudiated with research in order to be sold. When you’re shopping, be realistic about the achievable results. Even laser surgery can’t make a fifty year old look twenty again. However, most people who didn’t spend half their lives cooking themselves in the sun can expect to shave off ten years from their appearance.
Preventing wrinkles is always easier than trying to hide them. There are anti aging skin care products available for young women and men designed to be used starting in their twenties and thirties that can ward off the start of aging skin and developing wrinkles and fine lines. While at the same time restoring collagen which help’s the skin retain it’s firm young tight appearance. Its never to late using the right anti aging skin care products to vastly improve your appearance.

Great article! It’s obvious you have researched this topic in depth.
Funny how just using sun screen from early on in life could help avoid so much of the skin damage and age we experience as we age. The problem is that tan skin is looked upon as beautiful and healthy. It’s a catch 22 really. I wonder if that is why we’ve seen an increase in the anti-aging after-the-fact industry.
Again, very nice article.
