It is advised to check with your doctor to see if Hoodia might interfere with your current medical conditions. This is a precaution that should be taken before taking any new supplement, even if it is a natural ingredient like Hoodia.
But in general, researchers have found that pure Hoodia does not yet cause problems in people with diabetics ingesting it. However, some products containing Hoodia are not pure in form, but are mixed with other ingredients, which is why you should always be vigilant about checking with your healthcare provider before you start taking a new product.
The interaction of Hoodia with other medications and its effects on other conditions outside weight loss are being studies by scientists. The studies are carried out on humans.
Diabetes is often a result of weight gain and Hoodia can be helpful in hunger supression and cravings which as a result help cure the conditions resulting from obesity.
At the same time, researchers know that Hoodia has a direct effect on the part of the brain that controls your hunger and thirst, so it may contribute to blood sugar level fluctuations as well if it causes the brain to monitor those levels a different way.
In the past, some cultures used Hoodia to treat diabetes and other conditions, but that was in absence of today’s modern medicine that’s used to control and treat such issues. No research was conducted during those times to see how the people reacted to the drug, but it’s all they had at the time.
Even if you think that you are in perfect health, you should always consult your doctor. Women who are expecting a child should not use Hoodia.
Even though most people never have a problem with Hoodia, you should make sure that your doctor is always up to date with your progress after he/she has given you the go ahead to take Hoodia.
