Is It Possible To Watch TV And Be Healthy?
When people hear the words “sedentary lifestyle,” it’s easy to conjure up images about a fat individual sitting on the sofa, watching TV and munching on potato chips all day.
These days, watching TV is viewed as unhealthy. Health specialists everywhere say that the time that we spend in front of the TV can be better used for practices that can lengthen life instead of shortening it, like exercising. Even business leaders see TV as an income reducer in society today!
I agree that watching too much TV contributes to obesity all over the world today. This is so because the more TV a person watches, the more time is spent sitting down, hence the less time spent being active. The unspent calories from all that sitting accumulates until the person becomes obese, and becomes unhealthy.
But is watching TV really be that bad?
Some individuals have turned their love of watching TV into something more productive. For instance, overweight individuals watch TV while walking on the treadmill or pedaling on their exercise bike. Others tune in to health and wellness channels to get ideas on how to live a healthier lifestyle at home.
I’ll have to agree with these individuals on that statement - watching TV can be healthy, but only if you come out of it healthier and happier.
