Wrinkles - What You Should Do About Them
As we age we look in the mirror and see new wrinkles in our skin for time to time. We think oh no a new wrinkle and wonder what to do about them. To have the proper knowledge to prevent or at least help control them we need to know what causes them first. So I will give you a little bit of background on what causes them before we examine what treatment to use for them.
The epidermis or top layer of skin becomes less dense with age. This occurs when the epidermal cells lose their ability to bond. This also causes the skin to retain less moisture. Production of these cells also slows down making it harder for the skin to repair itself. One of the many things that happen because of this is wrinkles. The epidermal is not the only layer that affects this though the dermal layer can also age.
The dermal layer decreases in thickness also. It has less collagen because of less being produced and the skin becomes less elastic. Lines and other conditions happen when this occurs in the dermal layer. The skin also dries because of less sebum being made in the sebaceous glands. We also have fewer sweat glands as we age which can cause dryness too.
There a few medical procedures that correct wrinkles. On is the use of injections of botulinum toxin type A. I myself do not prefer needles. Glycolic acid treatments are also a professional treatment that helps. You just need to educate yourself as to what treatment you would prefer to do. You also need to check out the doctor or medical facility that is going to perform it.
Getting injected with botulinum toxin type A is one of the many medical ways to treat wrinkles. This treatment does not appeal to me due to the fact that I hate injections of any kind. Another treatment that is available is glycolic acid. I would research and learn about these and other medical procedures before having them done. Also investigate who and where you are thinking about having these procedures performed.
Another preventative to take when it comes the aging of the skin is not to smoke. Smoking decrease the skin ability to oxygenate itself. Carbon monoxide levels climb also because of the nicotine. When those levels rise the free radicals come out in higher numbers which can help the skin age and wrinkle.
